Rexam Personal Care has been chosen by beauty brand Lancome to design the lipstick casing for its French Touch Absolu line from its limited edition series. The new product is the second all-metal lipstick in Lancome’s limited edition series, and is the second time it has collaborated with Rexam.

“This is our second collaboration with Lancome on their limited edition prestige lipstick collection,” says Carole Grassi, category manager for Cosmetics, Rexam Personal Care. According to the creators, French Touch Absolu’s appeal derives from the design detail of the two-piece weighted cap, base and by the mechanism’s smooth performance.

The outer cap is of laser-etched, anodized aluminium, with a gold-silver mini-panel design. The effect is made possible by advanced laser techniques. The lipstick cap is further decorated with the brand’s trademark rose, engraved at the metal forming stage. The inner cap is crafted of maillechort, a silvery alloy selected for its weight, visual appeal and durability. The base of the lipstick is engraved with the “Lancome” logo and its mechanism is the lubricant-free Rexam R2000.

The idea behind this latest seasonal collection is to evoke a glamorous, 1970’s “disco ball” design, and is achieved through the use of gold-and-silver mini-facets. Rexam says the design reflects the appeal of Lancome’s iconic 1950s era, engraved metal lipstick, Les Mirroirs.
